E assim surgiu o blefe.
Continuing our chat about poker, today we'll talk about bluffing. To bluff is to deceive your opponents, making them think you have better cards than you actually have, in order to win the hand. How did this technique come to be? One of the stories says it started with few bored friends, in a farm, with nothing to do. One of them said: "Let's see who can find the biggest mushroom in the pasture? Each one of us gives one dollar and whoever brings back the biggest one wins all the money." Everyone agreed, they took a bag and off they went. Back at the farm house, one of the friends said: " I have the biggest mushroom!", without actually showing it. Another friend said: "No, I have the biggest one!". A third friend said: "I'm sure I got the biggest one. I'm so sure that I'll bet another ten dollars!". The other friends thought: "Yeah... The mushroom I got is big, but it's not that big!", so no one wanted to bet the extra money. The third friend got all the money and only after he admitted he didn't have any mushrooms at all. And that's how "the bluff" started.

Fiquem ligados! =)
One of the sports that is growing fast and have more and more adepts is Texas Hold'em. It's a modality of poker that involves the player, demands attention, makes adrenaline rush in your veins, makes you tense, happy, anxious, gives you pleasure and fear, all of this in only one hand! That's why people who discover it, don't stop playing anymore!
Poker is a strategy game, where you might not win, even if you have the best cards. A person who doesn't play very well, doesn't know the rules or doesn't have much experience may win once or twice, however, in a long term, you are most likely to end up in the negative balance. Maybe because of that, we always see the same players in the final tables of the World Series of Poker (WSOP), European Poker Tour (EPT) and other big tournaments. Are they lucky or are they good players? They might be lucky, but to win, they use a lethal weapon in their games: bluff, which I'll talk more about in the next post! Keep tuned! =)

Transito de Sao Paulo
Traffic Jam in Sao Paulo
Relato de um leitor do blog:
As told by a reader:
Today in the morning, driving to my work, I tried to change lanes, and then everything happened. I signaled and when I tried to change lanes, another driver accelerated and didn't let me in, blocking my way. I was literally in the "motorcycle corridor"***, and since I knew people would start honking the horn, I was watching carefully through the mirror to see if some bikes were coming. It didn't take too long: an insane biker came, not paying attention, and colided against my car. Like a shoal of piranhas, the other bikers joined in, pressuring me, as if I was a negligent, careless driver. Luckily, the biker who hit me, didn't have any major injuries, tried to calm the others down. I asked if he wanted to go to the hospital but he said no. If we called the ambulance for every bike collision, we would have to have more ambulances than cars in SP.
In the past years, traffic has been the biggest killer of young people between the ages of 18 and 30, directly and indirectly. The ones who were not killed in a car accident or hit by a car or in a traffic fight, were killed by the stress that it causes. In a city like this, where everything is for yesterday, everybody is in a hurry and traffic is a growing problem, what is the solution dear readers? What can we do for there not to be another victim?
*** If you are not from SP, or not from Brazil, "motorcycle corridor" is the space in between the cars in two lanes, where bikers can go through (pictures below). There was a huge debate between car drivers and bikers, because often bikers would kick cars or harass the drivers if they were blocking this corridor. A new law passed and now bikers are allowed to use this lane, which caused a comotion.

Semi Precious Weapons

Charismatic and polemic, he's also a jewelry designer, having his line sold in major stores like Barneys, Urban Outfitters and Hot Topic. According to some critics, they bring sex and glamour back to the rock scene. In one of the songs, he says: "I can't pay my rent, but I'm fucking gorgeous!", which was stamping some T-shirts distributed by him to the audience!

Lady Gaga
Me fez dancar e gritar bastante! Simplesmente a-d-o-r-e-i!!!
Yesterday we went to Lady Gaga show, at GM Place, here in Van, and everything was awesome!!! By the way, she had 2 shows here because of the high demand! Lucky us! She, despite being a bit like a robot, is very funny, sings well and interacts a lot with the audience. Most of her speeches were about sexual/racial equality, which made the crowd cheer a lot! I won't even mention the clothes that we already know are a tad eccentric, exactly what we see on the pics, internet and magazines. I believe she sang pretty much all the songs from the CD, I don't remember any that wasn't in her set list. The only thing that kinda bothered me was the costume changing, that of course, happened a lot, but it wasn't something, let's say, continuous. Everytime she had to change costumes, the show literally almost stopped, as if it was an intermission. Then, some videos would play on the big screens, showing her amazing looks, or her speeching, or some sort of electronic music would play along. Kinda made us sit down and wait for the rest of the show. But, besides it all, it was really worth it! It made me dance and scream a lot! I simply l-o-v-e-d it!!!
Olha so as minhas unhas do post Blue Gaga no show da propria!!!! Ckeck out my nails from the post Gaga Blue at the show!!!!

Azul Gaga
Gaga Blue
Pois eh, minha gente! Gaga em Van!!! Muito bom!!! Logo mais, post sobre o show!
I've been wanting to test the blue What's with the Catittude, from the Shrek Collection by OPI, because I would see it on other girls' nails and it seemed to be very cute! Then, I finally bought it and must tell you I was kind of disappointed with the consistency, which is too thin for my liking. I had to apply 3 coats of it and still I can see parts of my nail. Buuut, after a while wearing this nail polish, I started liking it - a lot! The colour is a baby/pastel blue, that reminds me those old kitchen appliances, do you remember? Like granny's fridge? lol
Well, what does it have to do with the name of my post? It's because I needed a faboosh nail polish to wear at the Lady Gaga concert yesterday!!! Yep, Gaga in Van!!! Suuuper duper!!! A post is coming!

Zombie Walk
On last Saturday there was also the Zombie Walk. It is a growing annual event that has become known as the New Years celebration of the goth community, and has taken place in Vancouver since 2005. It's just a bunch of people dressed up as zombies, walking through the streets of the city. It seems to be fun! =)
