Uma senhora foi ate o consultorio medico local e pediu para falar com o doutor. Quando a recepcionista perguntou o motivo, ela respondeu: "Eu quero pilula anticoncepcional". O medico, um pouco chocado pensou por um momento e disse: 

- Desculpe-me, Sra. Glenwood, mas voce tem 80 anos de idade. Por que voce precisaria de pilulas anticoncepcionais?

- Elas me ajudam a dormir melhor.

- Mas como elas te ajudariam a dormir melhor?

- Eu as coloco no suco de laranja da minha neta, e assim eu durmo melhor a noite!  

An elderly woman went to her local doctor’s office and asked to speak with her doctor. When the receptionist asked why she was there, she replied, “I’d like to have some birth control pills. Taken back, the doctor thought for a minute and then said: 

- Excuse me, Mrs. Glenwood, but you’re 80 years old. What would you possibly need birth control pills for?

- They help me sleep better.

- How in the world do birth control pills help you sleep?

- I put them in my granddaughter’s orange juice, and then I sleep better at night.

Conundrum

Voces sabem o que significa "conundrum" em ingles? Significa enigma, charada, onde voce embaralha as letras de uma palavra, e alguma outra pessoa tenta desvendar que palavra era essa. Por exemplo: M-A-I-N-G-E (enigma). Mas, pra ficar mais facil voce tambem pode dar uma dica pra quem esta tentando adivinhar, tipo: "O meu conundrum eh o mesmo que adivinhar, dificil de interpretar, jogo de adivinhacao". Entenderam? Eu to falando disso tudo pois eu resolvi adicionar essa brincadeira aqui no blog, dai voces podem deixar nos comentarios que palavra voce acha que eh. As palavras em portugues serao as mesmas em ingles, exemplo: Casa / House. A resposta sera dada no(s) dia(s) seguinte(s).

E o primeiro conundrum do blog eh: E-N-P-E-R-S-T-E. Dica: tem a ver com aniversarios e Natal. Ficou facil, vai!!! :D

Do you know what "conundrum" means? It means riddle, anything that puzzles, where you mix up the letters of a word and some other person has to guess what word was that. For example: M-A-I-N-G-E (enigma). But, to make it a little bit easier you can also give them a hint, like: "My conundrum means the same as

a saying, question or picture containing a hidden meaning; riddle". Got it? I'm talking about all of this because I decided to add this game to my blog, then you can leave in the comments what you think the word is. Words in English will be the same as the ones in Portuguese, e.g.: House / Casa. The answer will be given in the day(s) after.

The first conundrum of my blog is: E-N-P-E-R-S-T. Hint: it is related to birthdays and Christmas. Now, it's easy!!! :D

O Rosa Perfeito

Um diamante rosa de 14,23 quilates, batizado de "O Rosa Perfeito" (The Perfect Pink), foi vendido por US$ 23 milhões em um leilão nesta segunda-feira, 29 em Hong Kong, segundo a casa de vendas Christie's. Um comprador, com identidade não revelada, levou a pedra preciosa esculpida em formato retangular durante um leilão que arrecadou, no total, US$ 78,9 milhões. Alem de seu tamanho impressionante, o Rosa Perfeito eh o modelo de perfeicao em termos de cor, clareza e corte. Enquanto a maioria dos diamantes rosa tem nuances de roxo, laranja ou cinza, o Rosa Perfeito nao tem quaisquer tracos de uma cor secundaria, fazendo esse especime extraordinariamente raro, natural e comercialmente. Agora, digam-me, eu nao ficaria linda com um anel desses no meu dedo? O Natal tai, ne minha gente? Nao custa nada fazer uma lista pro Papai Noel, eu fui tao boazinha esse ano!!! rs

A 14,23 carat diamond ring, The Perfect Pink, was sold at auction on Monday 29, for U$23 million, in Hong Kong, according to Christie's. A buyer, who didn't want his name revealed, bought the gem in an emerald cut during an auction that brought more than U$78 million in total. Beyond its impressive size, The Perfect Pink is a paragon of perfection in terms of its colour, clarity and cut. While most of pink diamonds exhibit a colour modifier like purple, orange or grey, this specimen shows absolutely no trace of a secondary colour, making it rare, both commercially and naturally. Now, tell me, wouldn't I look pretty with a ring like that hanging on my finger? Christmas is coming and maybe I'll write my list to Santa, after all I was such a nice kid this year!!! lol

Valentino

Nesse sabado eu corri pra ver a exposicao Valentino, Retrospective: Past/Present/Future (Valentino, Retrospectiva: Passado/Presente/Futuro), no Queensland Art Gallery, em Brisbane/Australia. Eu digo corri pois esse eh o ultimo final de semana em exposicao! E assim como eu, muitas outras pessoas (a maioria mulheres, claro! rs) deixaram para a ultima hora para apreciar verdadeiros haute couture dignos de Valentino! 

Exclusiva a Brisbane, essa exibicao desenvolvida pela renomada instituicao Les Arts Decoratifs, Paris, abrange haute couture desde a primeira colecao criada em 1959 pelo famoso designer ate a colecao Outono/Inverno 2009-10 dos designers Maria Grazia Chiuri e Pier Paolo Piccioli, apontados como os diretores criativos da Valentino em 2008. 

Alguns temas foram usados para construir a exibicao: padronagem geometrica e graphic prints, o uso do tecido para criar silhuetas dramaticas e, claro, a caracteristica paleta de preto, branco e "Valentino red". Nao preciso nem contar que o trabalho empreendido na construcao das pecas eh excepcional! Chega a ser irritante saber que alguem pode fazer algo tao bem feito! rs E nao pense que a exposicao fica so nos vestidos, nao! Tem vestidos longos e curtos, terninhos, calcas, blusas, etc.

Como nao poderia deixar de ser, a exibicao inclui vestidos usados por Cate Blanchett, Julia Roberts, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor, etc. Mas o favorito da mulherada, sem duvida, era o vestido que Julia Roberts usou quando ganhou o Oscar em 2000! Dava pra ouvi-las sussurrando: "Oh, eu reconheco esse daqui! Eh tao liindo!". Mas os meus favoritos sao os das decadas de 60 e 70, despretensiosos, leves, delicados e ao mesmo tempo tao marcantes!

This saturday I rushed to see this exhibition Valentino, Retrospective: Past/Present/Future, at Queensland Art Gallery, in Brisbane/Australia. I say rushed because this is the last weekend we can check it out! Just like me, many other people (mostly women, of course! lol) decided to do leave it for the last minute! Exclusive to Brisbane, this is a exhibition developed by the renowned institution, Les Arts Décoratifs, Paris. The exhibition encompasses haute couture from the first collection designed in 1959 by the house’s founder, Valentino Garavani, through to work from the Autumn/Winter 2009–10 creations by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, appointed as creative directors for Valentino in 2008. Particular themes were used to build the exhibition: geometric patterns and graphic prints, the use of fabric to create dramatic silhouettes and, of course, the distinctive palette of black, white and ‘Valentino red’.

I don't even need to say the way he constructs his garments is amazing, so exquisite! It is almost annoying knowing that someone can do something so well done! lol Don't think it only has dresses! It has long and short dresses, pants, blouses, etc. The exhibition also includes garments worn by stars such as Cate Blanchett, Nicole Kidman, Julia Roberts, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor, etc. But the women's favorite gown there, no doubt about it, were the one Julia Roberts wore when she won the Oscars in 2000! You could hear the women whispering things such as "Oh! I recognize that one! It's beautiful!!!". But my favorites were the 60's and 70's dresses, unpretentious, light, delicate and at the same time so remarkable!

Nossa! Ta dificil atualizar o blog ultimamente, mas nao me esqueci de voces, nao! E a unha de hoje eh bem assim, tipo "cheguei"! Uma cor bem tchans, vibrante e otima tambem para usar como base para unhas decorativas, pois da pra contrastar com varias outras cores. Eu decidi usar essa cor (NYC Color Shocking Pink) em homenagem a minha cachorra, que era a cachorra mais legal do mundo! Sempre muito alegre, pronta pra brincar e nao reclamava nunca! Link, descanse em paz, meu amor!

Wow! It's been difficult to update the blog lately, but I haven't forgot about you guys! Today's nails is something like "I'm heeere"! The colour is very vibrant and great for using as base for those decorative nails, 'cause you can contrastar with many other colours. I decided to use this colour (NYC Color Shocking Pink) in honour of my dog, who was the coolest, nicest dog in the world! She was always very happy, always ready to play and never complained about anything! Link, rest in peace, my love!

Um homem foi visitar seu avo de 85 anos na casa de repouso.

- Como vc esta, vo?

- Nao poderia estar melhor! As enfermeiras cuidam muito bem de mim! Toda noite elas me trazem uma xicara de chocolate quente e um Viagra e assim eu durmo que nem pedra!

O homem parou pra conversar com a enfermeira chefe pra ver o que estava acontecendo.

- Mas o que eh que esta acontecendo aqui? Meu avo disse que voces estao dando Viagra pra ele diariamente. Isso nao pode ser possivel!

- Ah, sim! Eh verdade! Toda noite, as 10 da noite, nos damos chocolate quente e Viagra.

- Mas, por que? Um homem dessa idade!

- Bem, o chocolate quente o faz ficar sonolento e o Viagra o impede de rolar e cair da cama!

A man visited his 85 years old grandfather in the nursing home. 

- How you've been grandpa?

- Couldn't be better! These nurses take good care of me. Every night they bring me a cup of hot chocolate and a Viagra pill and I sleep like a log!

The man stopped to see the head nurse on his way out.

- What's going on here? Grandpa says you're giving him Viagra on a daily basis. I mean, surely that's not true!

- Oh, yes! Every night at ten o'clock he gets a cup of hot chocolate and a Viagra.

- But why? A man of his age?

- Well, the hot chocolate makes him sleepy and the Viagra keeps him from rolling out of bed!
