Video Conference

Viva a tecnologia!!! Sem ela nao seria possivel conversar com os amigos que moram longe e matar as saudades! Seja por telefone, mensagem de texto, msn, skype, holografia, etc, etc, etc, o mundo sempre fica melhor "perto" de quem a gente gosta.


O problema eh agendar um dia e horario bons para todas as partes envolvidas no processo! Apos muitas tentativas, foi atraves do Skype que o trio - Mi, Dine e Paule - pode mais uma vez colocar o papo em dia para celebrar o meu aniversario. A data escolhida foi o dia 25/01/2011 em Sao Paulo e 26/01/2011 em Brisbane (contando com o fuso horario). Coincidentemente, era feriado nas duas cidades (aniversario de SP e Australian Day). Ou seja, deu pra falar horrores sem termos de nos preocupar em acordar cedo no dia seguinte! =D

Viva la technology!!! We wouldn't be able to talk to friends who live far from us without it! Telephone, text message, msn, Skype, holograms, etc, etc, etc... The world is always a better place to live when we are "near" the ones we love!

The problem is to find  a day and time suitable for everyone involved in the process. After many attempts, it was through Skype that the Trio - Mi, Dine and Paule - was able to get together and celebrate my birthday. The date chosen was January 25th in Sao Paulo and the 26th in Brisbane (given the time zones). By coincidence it was holidays in both cities (Anniversary of Sao Paulo and Australian Day), meaning we chatted a lot and didn't have to worry about getting up early the next day! =D

Algumas horas atras, ficamos sabendo que o lider da rede terrorista Al-Qaeda, Osama Bin laden foi morto num conflito entre os EUA e militantes em Abbottabad, Paquistao. Ele foi o responsavel pelos ataques terroristas de 11 de setembro de 2001, nos Estados Unidos, e tambem pelos ataques contra as embaixadas americanas na Tanzania e no Quenia, em 1998, entre outros. 

Alem do fato de que, levaram-se quase 10 anos para alcanca-lo e de que esse eh um grande fato historico, o que me impressiona mais eh a rapidez com que as noticias se espalham hoje em dia. Quase instantaneamente, o Twitter foi invadido por uma enxurrada de tweets sobre o caso. E disso tudo, o que eu mais gosto de ver eh como as pessoas ainda mantem o bom senso de humor!!! Adooorooo!!! Few hours ago we came to know that the leader of the terrorist group Al-Qaeda, Osama bin Laden was killed in a firefight between USA forces and militants in Abbottabad, Pakistan. He was responsible for the terrorist attack in September 11, 2001, in the United States and also for the attacks against the American embassies in Tanzania and Kenya, back in 1998. 

Besides the fact they took almost 10 years to find him and this is a huge historical moment, what amazes me about this whole thing is how fast news spread nowadays. Almost instantly, Twitter was a buzz with tweets about the subject. From all of the tweets, what I love more is to see that our sense of humour are still intact, just like the tweets shown above!!! Looove it!!! One says: "They killed Bin Laden? For sure it was Chuck Norris!" Followed by: "Or Anderson Silva!!" Another one, from a Jack Bauer fake account, says: "You're welcome."

Olha so quem abriu os olhos pela primeira vez nesse final de semana! Esses dois filhotes de tigre-da-malasia, do San Diego Zoo, nos Estados Unidos, nasceram no dia 5 de abril, e aparecerao em publico quando completarem 3 meses de vida. Nao sao uma fofura??? Para relembrar outros filhotes que eu postei, clique aqui.

Look who has opened their eyes for the first time this past weekend! These 2 Malayan tigers cubs, at San Diego Zoo, in the United States, were born on April 5 and will make their public debut when they're about 3 months old. Aren't they cuuute??? To see other cubs I previously posted, click here.

Essas folhinhas sao folhas tipo papel seda para o controle de oleosidade da face, da The Body Shop. Elas absorvem o excesso de oleo, para um acabamento mais mate, ideal para peles com acne. O pacotinho contem 65 folhas, de 7.5cm(2.95 inches) X 5.4cm (2.13inches). Dia da Mentira

April Fool's Day


Ha varias teorias para o surgimento dessa data, o dia da mentira, celebrado no dia 1 de abril. Uma delas e a mais disseminada eh a de que, de acordo com o site www.brasilescola.com.br, apos a implantacao do calendario gregoriano na Franca, o dia 1 de janeiro foi instituido para ser o primeiro dia do ano. Antes dessa mudanca, a festa de ano novo era comemorada no dia 25 de marco e terminava apos uma semana, ou seja, no dia 1 de abril. Algumas pessoas, as mais tradicionais e menos flexiveis, nao gostaram da ideia, sem contar que naquela epoca as noticias demoravam muito para chegar as pessoas, fato esse que atrapalhou a adocao da mudanca por todos. Isso virou motivou de gozacao por parte dos que concordaram com a nova data e passaram a fazer brincadeiras com os teimosos, como enviar convites para festas que nao existiam. Tais brincadeiras causaram duvidas sobre a veracidade da data, confundindo as pessoas. Dai, o surgimento do dia da mentira!

There are many theories put forward about how the tradition began, the April Fool's Day, "celebrated" on April 1. The most disseminated theory says that, according to www.museumofhoaxes.com, after France implemented the Gregorian calendar, January 1 was considered the first day of the year. Before the change, the new year was celebrated on March 25 and it would only end after one week, in other words, April 1. Some traditional and less flexible people didn't like it, not to mention that back in the days news took a long time to spread out. Those who failed to keep up with the change had jokes played on them, like being invited to celebration parties that didn't exist. Pranksters would stick paper fish to their backs and the victims were called Poisson d'Avril, or April Fish - which, to this day, remains the French term for April Fool's Day. And that's how the tradition was born!
